Building a custom track bike with Hartley Cycles
I’m really delighted to be working with the amazing Hartley Cycles this year. I’ll be riding a custom track bike hand made by Caren in the Red Hook Crit series and at a bunch of other fixed gear crits including Waterkant Crit, Thundercrit and La Petite Course.
Having parted ways with my old (and first!) sponsor Charge Bikes, I was left wondering what to ride this year when as if by magic, along came Caren with an offer I couldn’t refuse. Carey’s multi award winning frames look the business, plus she has so much knowledge about geometry and handling that I’m convinced my new bike will ride like no other.
I popped up to London to meet Caren and have a bike fit so that we could get the ball rolling. I also took along my current race bike so that we can take the elements that work and incorporate them into the new design.
Take a look at my video about the first stage of hand building a steel track bike and be sure to check back in a few weeks for the next instalment.
